Every once in a while, we should step back and take a look at the big picture. Take a little break from loan production goals, operational issues, training, staff management, and regulatory affairs. Take a breath and keep in mind what’s really important.
Today is one of those days. A day to remember and honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and all he brought to the table. A man who was a hero in the truest sense and meaning of the word.
With all the upheaval and turmoil in the world, we need to step back and reflect on ourselves, what we do, how we do it, and how we treat and affect each other.
It’s not that difficult. It’s a matter of doing what’s right, for all the right reasons, because it’s the right thing to do.
Pretty simple, right? Then why do we have so many problems?
In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,
“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.”
At least for today, and hopefully every day, let’s remember to do our very best and to live by these words and the preaching of Dr. King. Let’s seek to find the common ground on which we can all stand tall, together as one, for the good and the benefit of all.
On this day let’s remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for the man and the hero he was. Let him be an inspiration to us all.
