Welcome to a new LoanLogics blog series featuring LoanLogics associates doing good. Our first installment of this quarterly feature, profiles Charla DeVoe who’s been with the company for seven years! Early last year, she was featured in a Q&A with some of our leading ladies on their career in technology.
Doing Good
As a technology project manager, Charla, is always in motion. She’s busy at work managing IDEA OnDemand technology implementations, maintenance, and ongoing development planning, in a role she was promoted to a year ago. Charla is also busy “on the field” in her own backyard, of Jacksonville, Florida.
In 2017 she co-founded T.R.U.E. Youth Association, a non-profit organization that develops, supports, and promotes a wide variety of youth education and sports activities with a focus on providing children with opportunities to grow as a student, players, and, more importantly as an individual. From math and literacy tutoring to teamwork and training, students grades K-8 have access to resources committed to helping them on and and off the field.
The idea for starting the cause sparked while Charla and her husband were volunteering at different youth sports organizations. He was already working with inmates ages 18-25. Together they realized there was a significant hole in the community that needed filled. They saw a vast gap in educating, developing, and mentoring youth. Most organizations only focus on one aspect, so they worked hard to incorporate all three into their non profit by using Trust, Respect, Understanding, and Education (T.R.U.E).
Today, the organization prides itself on “providing our community with programming that allows us to develop our youth to their full potential: educationally, socially, physically, and mentally.”
Recently, T.R.U.E received some special attention from Jags QB, Trevor Lawrence. The visit and generous equipment donation were even profiled in the news. You can read all about it here.
Just this month, T.R.U.E. Youth Association expanded their donation program beyond grants and awards to help fund operations. Donations can now be made via PayPal, linked on the organization’s website here. Of course, if you’re in the Jacksonville area, volunteer positions are frequently available as well through their website.
Like many other LoanLogics associates we’ll be featuring in this series. Charla is a “true” (pun intended) leader doing good both in and outside of her 9-5. Bravo!
